Hero Wars Team Building Guide: Roles, Damage Types and Synergy

Build stronger Hero Wars teams by understanding roles, physical vs magic damage, hero attributes and how to combine heroes for synergy.

A team of five strong heroes isn’t always a strong team. In Hero Wars, the way heroes work together – roles, damage types and synergies – often decides fights more than raw power.

The core roles

RoleJob
TankAbsorbs damage at the front and protects the team
HealerRestores HP and keeps fights going
Physical damage dealerDeals damage reduced by armour
Magic damage dealerDeals damage reduced by magic defence
Control / supportStuns, silences, buffs and debuffs

A balanced team usually has a tank, a healer and three heroes covering damage and control.

Physical vs magic damage

Enemies defend against physical and magic damage differently:

  • Armour reduces physical damage.
  • Magic defence reduces magic damage.

A team with only one damage type can hit a wall against enemies with high defence of that type. Mixing physical and magic damage keeps your team effective against more opponents.

Attributes

Each hero has a main attribute – Strength, Agility or Intelligence – that boosts their key stats. When upgrading items, skins or glyphs, focus on the hero’s main attribute first.

Positioning

In Hero Wars, you mainly choose which five heroes to bring. Where they stand is largely determined by the heroes themselves, which is why choosing the right combination matters so much.

Synergy

Some heroes are much stronger together. Look for:

  • Buffers paired with damage dealers who benefit from their buffs.
  • Debuffers that weaken enemies before your main damage lands.
  • Healers who complement a tank’s survival.
  • Control that keeps enemies from using key skills.

Synergy can turn average heroes into a strong team.

Common mistakes

  • Five damage dealers and no tank or healer.
  • Only one damage type.
  • Ignoring synergy in favour of individual power.

Good teams are built, not just collected. Think about roles, damage types and synergy, and your heroes will punch above their power level.
