OGame Fleet Saving: How to Keep Your Fleet Alive While You Sleep
Fleet saving is the single most important OGame skill. Learn how it works, the safest methods and the mistakes that get fleets crashed.
OGameFleet Saving In OGame, a fleet sitting on a planet is a target. Experienced attackers scan for idle fleets and strike when you’re offline. Fleet saving – keeping your fleet in flight while you’re away – is how you stop that from happening.
The idea
A fleet that is flying can’t be attacked on a planet. So before you log off, you send your fleet on a long mission that returns after you’re back online. You take your resources with you so there’s nothing to steal either.
Common fleet save methods
| Method | How it works | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Deploy to a moon or colony | Station the fleet at another of your planets at low speed | Simple and reliable |
| Moon-to-moon deploy | Deploy between your moons | Moons can’t be scanned by the Sensor Phalanx |
| Harvest a debris field | Send Recyclers (with the fleet) to a debris field | Classic, but watch arrival timing |
| Expedition | Send the fleet to slot 16 on an expedition | Can find rewards – or trouble |
The most important factor: an attacker shouldn’t be able to predict where and when your fleet lands.
Step by step
- Load all resources onto your fleet before sending it.
- Choose a slow speed (like 10–30%) so the flight lasts until you’re back.
- Pick a destination you control, ideally from a moon.
- Double-check deuterium – fleets need fuel, and a fleet stuck without it is a disaster.
- Note the return time and make sure you’ll be online then.
Why moons matter
Missions launched from a moon can’t be seen by an enemy’s Sensor Phalanx, which makes it much harder for someone to calculate when your fleet will land. Getting a moon should be one of your mid-game goals.
Mistakes that get fleets crashed
- Returning to a planet while still offline.
- Using a predictable route and time every night.
- Forgetting a few ships on the planet “just this once”.
- Not leaving enough deuterium for the return flight.
The mindset
Treat every log-off as an invitation to attackers. If you fleet save every single time, your fleet – and your account – can survive for years.
