RAID Clan Boss Guide: Demon Lord Basics, Difficulties and Daily Keys
The Clan Boss is RAID's most important daily fight. Learn how the Demon Lord works, how difficulties and affinities change it and how to build your first team.
The Clan Boss – the Demon Lord – is the fight you’ll do every single day in RAID. It’s a long, single-boss battle where the goal isn’t to win but to deal as much damage as possible before your team falls. Your damage decides your personal reward chest, and your clan’s combined damage decides the clan chest.
Why it matters so much
Clan Boss chests are one of the best steady sources of:
- Shards (including Ancient and Void at higher difficulties)
- Gear, including high-rank artifacts
- Books and potions
- Silver and other resources
Even a modest Clan Boss team adds up to huge value over months.
Difficulties
The Demon Lord comes in six difficulties:
| Difficulty | Typical player |
|---|---|
| Easy | First days |
| Normal | First weeks |
| Hard | Early teams with Decrease DEF |
| Brutal | Solid mid-game teams |
| Nightmare | Strong teams or “unkillable” setups |
| Ultra-Nightmare | Endgame and well-tuned teams |
Higher difficulties hit much harder but give much better chests.
Daily keys and affinity
- You get a limited number of Clan Boss keys that refill every day. Use them all – unused keys are wasted damage.
- The Demon Lord’s affinity changes daily, rotating between Void, Force, Magic and Spirit. Swap out champions who are weak to today’s affinity. Our affinity guide explains why.
Building your first team
A simple early team covers these roles:
- Decrease Defense – e.g. Warmaiden.
- Decrease Attack – so you survive longer.
- Poison or HP Burn – damage that scales with the boss’s huge HP.
- Healer or shielder – more turns alive means more damage.
- A damage dealer – your best attacker.
Warmaiden, Frozen Banshee and Apothecary are classic budget picks – see our free champions tier list.
Getting more damage
- Survive longer. Most damage comes late in the fight, so survival is damage.
- Keep debuffs up – Decrease Defense and Weaken should almost never drop.
- More Accuracy – the boss has high Resistance at higher difficulties.
- Lifesteal on damage dealers helps a lot early on.
Choosing your difficulty
Hit the highest difficulty where your team still deals meaningful damage. Your clan may have specific thresholds – follow their guidance so the clan chest is maximised.
When to think about unkillable
Once you’re comfortable in Nightmare, the next step is often an unkillable team that never dies. That’s a speed-tuning project – read our unkillable explainer when you’re ready.
