RAID Masteries Guide: Offense, Defense and Support Trees for Beginners

Masteries can turn a good 6-star champion into a great one. We explain the three mastery trees, the famous top-tier picks and simple setups for every role.

The Offense, Defense and Support mastery trees

Once a champion reaches the higher ranks, you can unlock masteries – permanent bonuses bought with scrolls from the Minotaur’s Labyrinth. They’re expensive, so it pays to understand the trees before you spend.

The three trees

SupportAccuracy, Speed of effects, buffs and debuffsDebuffers, buffers, healers

Most builds combine a primary tree – where you go deep for the strongest top-tier mastery – with a secondary tree that fills in useful bonuses. Check the in-game mastery screen for exactly how many points your champion can spend.

The famous top-tier masteries

  • Warmaster and Giant Slayer (Offense) – the two classic top-tier damage masteries. Both add extra damage to attacks; Warmaster tends to suit champions with fewer hits, Giant Slayer suits champions with many hits. You can only choose one.
  • Lore of Steel (Support) – boosts the bonuses of basic 2-piece artifact sets. Popular on supports and many champions using Speed, Accuracy or Life sets.

These are among the most commonly recommended masteries across the community.

Simple setups by role

Damage dealer

  • Primary: Offense, ending in Warmaster or Giant Slayer.
  • Secondary: Support for Speed-of-effects and Accuracy, or Defense for survival.

Debuffer

  • Primary: Support for Accuracy-related bonuses.
  • Secondary: Defense for survival, or Offense if the champion also deals damage.

Healer / buffer

  • Primary: Support.
  • Secondary: Defense to stay alive.

Tank / Arena defence

  • Primary: Defense.
  • Secondary: Support.

Who to master first

  1. Your main Clan Boss damage dealer – masteries add a lot of damage over a long fight.
  2. Your key debuffer – better Accuracy-related bonuses mean fewer resisted debuffs.
  3. Your best dungeon damage dealer.

Tips to avoid wasted scrolls

  • Plan the full tree before you start – use community calculators or in-game previews.
  • Finish one champion before moving to the next.
  • Don’t master temporary champions you’ll replace soon.
  • Rethink before resetting – resets cost resources, so get it right the first time.

Masteries are one of the slowest systems to grow in RAID, but they’re also one of the most rewarding. Spend scrolls carefully and your core champions will keep getting stronger.
