Brawl Stars Mode Tier List: The Best Brawler Types for Every Game Mode

Instead of a list that expires next patch, here's which brawler roles dominate each Brawl Stars mode – and why – with example picks.

Brawl Stars artwork

Brawler balance in Brawl Stars changes often, but the roles that win each mode stay remarkably stable. Learn the roles and you’ll always know what to pick – even after a balance update.

The roles

  • Tanks – high health, short range. Win close fights and control tight spaces.
  • Snipers / Marksmen – long range, lower health. Win open maps by poking.
  • Throwers / Artillery – lob attacks over walls. Excellent on maps with lots of cover.
  • Assassins – high mobility and burst. Punish isolated enemies.
  • Controllers – area denial and crowd control. Hold zones and objectives.
  • Support – heals, shields or buffs teammates.

Why these roles win

Gem Grab

The team that controls the middle controls the gems. Controllers slow the game down, and supports keep the gem carrier alive.

Brawl Ball

Walls get broken, goals get scored and close-range fights decide everything. Tanks carry the ball through; assassins punish anyone who strays.

Heist

Damage on the safe is everything. Brawlers with high sustained damage or strong burst win races.

Bounty and Knockout

These modes reward not dying. Long-range brawlers can deal damage without exposing themselves.

Hot Zone

Standing in a zone means being a target. Area damage and throwers clear zones; controllers hold them.

Showdown

Survival first. Brawlers that win 1v1 at close range and can self-sustain thrive.

Final tip

Coordinate with teammates: a team of three snipers in Brawl Ball rarely ends well. One tank, one controller and one damage dealer is a safe default in most 3v3 modes.
