Call of Dragons City Hall Upgrade Order: Grow Faster Without Wasting Builders

Your City Hall gates almost everything in Call of Dragons. A simple upgrade order, builder habits and speed-up rules that help you level it efficiently.

The City Hall is the heart of your city in Call of Dragons. Its level caps most other buildings and unlocks new features, so the speed at which you upgrade it sets the pace for your whole account.

The basic principle

For each City Hall level:

  1. Check the requirements – usually other buildings at a certain level.
  2. Upgrade only those requirements first.
  3. Upgrade the City Hall as soon as they’re done.
  4. Fill gaps afterwards with economy and military buildings.

This keeps your builders focused on what actually moves you forward.

Keep builders busy

  • Unlock a second builder as early as possible – it nearly doubles your build speed.
  • Never leave a builder idle, even if the only available upgrade is small.
  • Queue long upgrades before logging off and short ones while you’re playing.

Speed-up rules

SituationUse speed-ups?
The last requirement before a City Hall upgradeYes
The City Hall upgrade itselfYes, especially during events
An event that rewards speed-up usageYes – stack upgrades into it
Random low-priority buildingsNo
Troop training early onUsually no

Don’t forget economy and research

While the City Hall is the priority, you still need:

  • Resource production and storage to afford the next levels – see our resources guide.
  • Research that speeds up building and boosts your economy – see the research guide.
  • Alliance help, which shortens every timer for free.

When to slow down

Rushing the City Hall too far ahead of your army can make you a target. Ease off when:

  • Your troops are much weaker than players around your level.
  • A big conflict event is coming and you need defensive strength.
  • Your resource income can’t keep up with costs.

Common mistakes

  • Upgrading everything evenly instead of following requirements.
  • Spending speed-ups on small timers that would finish anyway.
  • Ignoring alliance help on long upgrades.
