Mech Arena Loadout Tips: Building a Hangar That Covers Every Situation

How to build a balanced Mech Arena hangar – mixing roles, matching weapon ranges and deciding where your upgrade resources should go.

Mech Arena artwork

In Mech Arena you bring several mechs into a match and swap between them when one is destroyed. A good hangar isn’t five copies of your favourite – it’s a set of mechs that cover each other’s weaknesses.

The balanced hangar

A reliable template for most players:

SlotRoleWhy
1TankOpens fights and holds objectives
2Brawler / flankerPunishes enemies who push too far
3Long-range damageSafe damage on open maps
4Flexible pickAdapt to the mode or the enemy team
5Your best mechComes out when the match is close

Start each match with the mech that suits the map, not necessarily your strongest one.

Weapon pairing rules

  1. Same range, same mech. If a mech carries a short-range and a long-range weapon, one of them is always wasted.
  2. Burst vs sustained. Burst weapons reward peeking from cover; sustained-fire weapons reward steady pressure on objectives.
  3. Mind the reload. Weapons with long reloads pair well with abilities that keep you safe during the downtime.

Where should upgrades go?

Upgrading resources are limited, so prioritise:

  • The weapons you use most – weapon damage is felt in every fight.
  • Your top two mechs – they carry most matches.
  • Only then branch out to new mechs.

Avoid buying and upgrading every new mech that appears in the shop. Depth beats breadth.

Swapping during a match

When your mech is destroyed you choose the next one. Think about what just killed you:

  • Lost to a close-range brawler? Bring a mech that can keep distance.
  • Losing the objective? Bring a tank.
  • The enemy hides behind cover? Bring something with indirect or burst damage.

A hangar that can answer these questions wins more often than one built only for raw damage.
