How to Rank Up Champions in RAID: Food, Levels and the Road to 6 Stars

Ranking up is the biggest power jump in RAID. Learn how the rank-up ladder works, how much food you need for a 6-star champion and how to farm it efficiently.

Level efficiently title with XP brews and fodder icons

A champion’s rank (the number of stars) sets their maximum level and multiplies their base stats. Getting your first 6-star champion is the biggest single power spike in early RAID – and it takes more food than most new players expect.

Each rank raises the level cap by 10. Ranking up needs as many same-rank champions as the current rank.

How ranking up works

  1. Level the champion to the maximum level for their rank (10 per star: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60).
  2. Open the Rank Up screen in the Tavern.
  3. Feed them as many champions of the same rank as their current star count:
    • 1★ → 2★ needs 1 one-star champion
    • 2★ → 3★ needs 2 two-star champions
    • 3★ → 4★ needs 3 three-star champions
    • 4★ → 5★ needs 4 four-star champions
    • 5★ → 6★ needs 5 five-star champions

After ranking up, the champion goes back to level 1 of the new rank – but with much higher stats.

The real cost of a 6-star

Ranking a 5★ champion to 6★ needs five 5★ food champions. Each of those needs four 4★ food champions, each of which needs three 3★ food, and so on. That snowball is why food farming is a daily task for most RAID players.

Where food comes from

  • Campaign drops – the main source. Most stages drop 1★ and 2★ champions.
  • Mystery Shards – common and uncommon pulls are perfect food.
  • Special fodder champions – the game regularly hands out “chicken”-style fodder that exists only to be fed.
  • Your vault of unwanted rares – once you know they’re not useful, they’re great food for higher ranks.

Efficient food farming

  • Use a farmer. A strong AoE champion with Lifesteal can clear campaign stages solo while three food champions level up next to them. See our campaign farming guide.
  • Use XP boosts during farming sessions, especially when you have lots of energy.
  • Rank food up in batches. Level several 2★ champions at once, rank them to 3★, then repeat – it keeps your Tavern tidy and your energy focused.
  • Don’t feed max-level champions as raw XP. It is almost always better to use them for rank-ups.

Who should get 6 stars first?

  1. Your campaign farmer – it speeds up every future rank-up.
  2. Your main Clan Boss damage dealer or debuffer – Clan Boss chests are a major long-term reward.
  3. Supports and healers your dungeon teams depend on.

Avoid ranking up champions you’re unsure about. A 6-star is a big investment; make it count.
