Idle Heroes Factions and Team Building: Building Your First Real Team
The six Idle Heroes factions, how faction advantage and team auras work, and how to build a balanced six-hero team with a solid front and back line.
Idle HeroesFactions and Team Building Idle Heroes teams use six heroes, and how you combine them matters as much as how strong they are individually. Factions, team auras and positioning all play a part.
The six factions
| Faction | Notes |
|---|---|
| Shadow | Part of the main faction cycle |
| Fortress | Part of the main faction cycle |
| Abyss | Part of the main faction cycle |
| Forest | Part of the main faction cycle |
| Light | Strong against Dark |
| Dark | Strong against Light |
Shadow, Fortress, Abyss and Forest form a cycle where each faction has an advantage over another. Light and Dark sit outside that cycle and counter each other. Heroes with faction advantage deal more damage to the faction they counter – the in-game faction wheel shows the exact direction.
Team auras
Teams receive aura (halo) bonuses depending on their faction mix. Some auras reward fielding many heroes from the same faction; others reward specific mixes. The team screen shows which aura you currently have – check it whenever you change your line-up.
Front line and back line
A six-hero team has two front-line slots and four back-line slots:
- Front line: durable heroes who can take hits.
- Back line: damage dealers, healers and supports.
Putting a fragile damage dealer in front usually ends the fight early – for your team.
Roles to cover
- One or two durable front-liners.
- A healer or support to keep the team alive.
- Damage dealers – a mix of single-target and area damage.
- Control – stuns and other effects that stop enemy skills.
Building around what you have
Early on, you won’t have the perfect heroes. Instead:
- Pick heroes you can upgrade consistently.
- Use faction advantage to swap in counters for tough stages.
- Check the aura after every change.
Common mistakes
- Ignoring the aura and losing free stats.
- Fragile heroes in the front line.
- No healer in longer fights.
- Building every new hero instead of a focused team – see our beginner guide on fodder planning.
A balanced, focused team beats a pile of strong individuals. Get the roles, factions and aura right, and your progress will speed up noticeably.
