RAID Faction Wars Guide: Building Teams From a Single Faction

Faction Wars tests how deep your roster really is. Learn how the faction crypts work, why accessories make them worth it and which factions to tackle first.

Faction Wars cover with champion lineups

Faction Wars is one of RAID’s most demanding modes. Each faction crypt only lets you bring champions from that faction, so you can’t lean on your usual all-star team. It’s a test of roster depth – and it’s where many players earn their best accessories.

How Faction Wars works

  • Every faction has its own crypt made up of a series of increasingly hard stages.
  • Only champions of that faction can enter.
  • Stages have their own enemy compositions and affinities, and the final stages are genuinely tough boss fights.
  • Clearing stages earns rewards, including faction-locked accessories.

Why accessories make it worth it

Rings, Amulets and Banners can only be worn by champions of the faction they belong to – and Faction Wars is a main source of them. A strong accessory set adds a lot of stats, especially C.DMG amulets for damage dealers and ACC or RES banners for debuffers and defenders. See our gear main stats guide for which main stats to look for.

Which factions to start with

Start with the factions where you already have:

  1. A healer or shielder
  2. A Decrease Defense or Decrease Attack champion
  3. At least one solid damage dealer
  4. Some form of speed or turn-meter support

Those four roles let you clear the early and middle stages of most crypts. Many players begin with the factions their starter and first epics belong to.

The alliances

RAID’s factions are grouped into four alliances:

AllianceExample factions
Telerian LeagueBanner Lords, High Elves, Sacred Order, Barbarians
Gaellen PactOgryn Tribes, Lizardmen, Skinwalkers, Orcs
The CorruptedDemonspawn, Undead Hordes, Dark Elves, Knights Revenant
Nyresan UnionDwarves, Shadowkin, Sylvan Watchers and newer additions

Alliances matter for some leader auras and events, but Faction Wars itself is strictly one faction per crypt.

Tips for tough stages

  • Read the enemy lineup before each stage and swap champions to counter it.
  • Use champions you’d normally feed – rares in a weak faction can be the difference between clearing and failing.
  • Gear Faction Wars teams with leftover pieces; they don’t need perfect gear to clear mid stages.
  • Bring cleansers or Block Debuffs for stages with heavy control.

Planning your roster

Faction Wars is a great reason to keep useful rares and duplicates in the vault instead of feeding them. A rare that fills a gap in a weak faction is worth more than the XP it would give as food. Our rarities guide has a quick keep-or-feed checklist.

Treat Faction Wars as a long-term project. Each crypt you finish makes the next one easier, because you’ll have more accessories to power up your champions.
